Jeff Riley is currently Assistant Professor and Associate Director for the Cardiovascular Sciences Program in the College of Health Sciences at Midwestern University in Glendale Arizona. He also serves part time as Director for Academic Affairs in the Center for Education and Quality Improvement at Fresenius Medical Care - Extracorporeal Alliance. Jeff currently serves as Director of Continuing Medical Education for the American Society of Extra-Corporeal Technology. In July, 2001 Fresenius Medical Care acquired Edwards Lifescience's Cardiovascular Resources to expand their dialysis services to an extracorporeal services company. Jeff Riley served as Vice President Quality and the Business Unit Compliance Officer for the FMC Extracorporeal Alliance until April, 2002. Prior to the acquisition in May, 1997 through July 2001, Jeff Riley served as Vice President, Quality and Director, Center of Excellence for Perfusion Management at Edwards Lifesciences Cardiovascular Resources, Inc., previously Perfusion Services of Baxter Healthcare Corporation. The Center existed to advance perfusion technology and the role of the perfusionist. From 1989 to 1997, Jeff was a perfusionist, assistant professor, and program director for the perfusion education program (Extracorporeal Circulation Technology) in the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina. Mr. Riley was also Department Chairman of the Life Support Department at the MUSC Hospitals. Mr. Riley was graduated from The Ohio State University Circulation Technology (Perfusion Education) Program in 1974 and became a faculty member at OSU in 1976-1978. After 6.5 years of employment at Emory University in Atlanta, he became one of the founders of Extracorporeal Technologies Inc., a contract perfusion corporation in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Riley was also previously Director of Clinical Education and Research at PSICOR, Inc. in San Diego, California in 1986 to 1989.Mr. Riley has served as Editor (1987-1989) and on the editorial staff of the Journal of Extra-Corporeal Technology (1976-1990, 1993-present). He has also served on the editorial board of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia (1989-1992). He served as a member of AmSECT's Business Practices Committee from 1998 to 2001. Jeff was elected a Life Member of American Society of Extra-Corporeal Technology in 1990 and was inducted to active membership in the American Academy of Cardiovascular Perfusion in 1990. Mr. Riley has authored and co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed scientific publications in the perfusion literature, including many award-winning presentations, manuscripts, and posters. Mr. Riley served five years (1992-1997) on AmSECT's Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Recently, he has served AmSECT as the International Conference Planning Committee Chairman for 2001-2002.
